Above: The Receptive (8)
Below: The Receptive (8)
The second hexagram represents (Yin), the yielding principle of Earth. The Receptive compliments the Creative (Yang) signifying the accessibility of material things in contrast to the abstract essence (Chi) of the Creative.
The balance of Yin & Yang is expressed in human relationships such as between man and woman. More interesting for self-knowledge, it shows up in the internal balance between spiritual (revered/moral) and the sensual (self gratifying) impulse.
The proper relationship of the Receptive to the Creative is complimentary rather than opposing, but if the Receptive challenges the Creative for dominance, everything becomes poisoned.
