Upper and lower trigrams move in opposite directions, like two sisters bound by affection, contradicting each other because of their stronger affection in marriage to different husbands.

When people live in estrangement they can carry out no great undertakings together because their view points differ too widely.

One should not act abruptly in these circumstances, but limit oneself to gradually evolving the situation. Some success can then be expected.

Contradiction seems to be an obstruction, but it’s natural in the order of things. After all, it’s also the point of departure for nature’s dynamic organisation.

If one engages socially with the less cultured, one nevertheless preserves one’s character, despite the expression of vulgarity all around.
